You may or may not have heard, but there’s a new Disney Cruise Line ship hitting the water in 2022! I don’t know about you, but I’m SUPER psyched for this new ship. While we don’t know a ton about it, Disney has provided us with enough tidbits to whet our appetites, and make us clamor to book a sailing when they open up in a few weeks.
What’s so special about this ship you ask? Well, let me tell you!
Basic Facts:
The Disney Wish (great name right!?!) is currently being built in Germany. It’s scheduled to set sail from Port Canaveral on 3 and 4 night Bahamian sailings during the summer of 2022.
There are 15 decks on the ship, which can hold approximately 4,000 passengers, the same amount of passengers as are on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.
Of the 1,244 staterooms on board, 121 are Inside Staterooms, 170 are Oceanview Staterooms, 877 have a Verandah, and 76 are Concierge Staterooms.
Stateroom Details:
Inside staterooms on the Disney Wish will only be offered as Standard Inside Staterooms, so that means no split bathrooms available in Inside Staterooms on this ship. Also, no magical portholes! Sigh, that change does make me sad as it’s an amazing feature offered on the Disney Dream and Fantasy that really make the room special.
ALL non-Concierge staterooms will have queen beds in them, and most Concierge rooms will have a king bed in them!
The Concierge staterooms will have some fun enhancements to them not seen on the current Disney ships. Royal Suites will sleep up to 6; there will be 2 TWO STORY Royal Suites; the theming of each type of room will be based on classic storybook tales; and they will offer oceanview staterooms with floor to ceiling windows that are forward facing with lots of sitting areas in the stateroom.
Wondering about accessibility options? There will be 36 mobility and communication staterooms, plus 56 communication-only staterooms. They will have extra-large spaces for maneuverability, and include roll-in showers with fold-down seats.
Dining 411:
What about dining? Are there going to be special themed restaurants on this ship? HECK YES THERE ARE!
The Disney Wish will have three totally different main dining room experiences for guests to enjoy. I’m SO excited to try these out.
Arendelle: A “Frozen” Dining Adventure will magically transport you to the Kingdom of Arendelle where you join Queen Anna and Kristoff as they celebrate their engagement and host a feast of Norwegian-inspired cuisine. Don’t worry, Elsa and Olaf will also come by for some “Frozen” fun too. And yes, it’s included in your cruise fare!
Worlds of MARVEL will be the first ever Marvel cinematic dining experience of epic proportions. At this restaurant, you will suit up to save the day with your favorite Avengers. The menu items will showcase global cuisine inspired by favorite heroes, and is included in your cruise fare.
Lastly, 1923 will be a restaurant where imaginative dining meets Hollywood elegance. The restaurant is named after the year the Walt Disney studios were founded. It will have a classic Hollywood feel with a menu inspired by a fusion of California’s cultural flavors, and is included in your cruise fare too.
Adult Only Experiences:
For an adult only experience, you can check out Palo Steakhouse or Enchante by Chef Arnaud Lallement for an amazing dining experience. Both will have an additional fee associated with them, with more information about the cost and exact offerings coming out later.
Palo Steakhouse is inspired by Cogsworth from “Beauty and the Beast” and will offer authentic Italian dining with the refinement of a modern steakhouse.
Enchante will be a super elegant dining experience in spired by Lumiere from “Beauty and the Beast.”
And if you get to your dinner reservation too early, you can always hang out in The Rose for a before or after dinner cocktail. It will be located at the entrance to Palo Steakhouse and Enchante as an adult-exclusive lounge with sweeping views of the ocean.
Don’t think that the only adult areas will be limited to restaurants! There’s also the Cove Cafe, an adults exclusive cafe inspired by Disney’s “Moana” which will offer coffee, tea, and other speciality beverages, as well as the Quiet Cove outdoor area. This peaceful, adults-only refuge will feature a luxurious infinity pool, bar, and poolside lounge with stunning views of the sea.
The place I know MANY people are totally psyched for is the STAR WARS: Hyperspace Lounge where you board a luxury spaceship so you can enjoy galaxy wide visions of other planets while you sip out of the world concoctions. At night it will be reserved for adults, offering signature beverages inspired by the films.
